Contact timeline helps marketers gain a lot of insights. Having a timeline helps in keeping track of an event. Contact timeline also does the same by keeping track of events with respect to individual contacts.
When running campaigns, you may need to have a visual representation of the history of activities for a particular contact. You can keep track of the contacts’ behaviour towards the campaigns you have run, i.e Whether the contact has unsubscribed or not, if the contact has made any clicks or if the email was opened. This information will give you great insights into the effectiveness of the campaign or the interest of the contact towards your campaigns.
To view the timeline of a particular contact, Go to Contacts -> All Contacts -> Select the contact for which you want to view the timeline. You can also view the contact’s timeline by selecting the contact from the list you are in.
Under Contact Attributes, you will have all the details about the particular contact starting from Address to social networking contacts, Email address and other fields that you have defined for a contact.
Search option for Contact attributes:
If you want to search through the contact attributes to find out a particular data field like Facebook ID or LinkedIn ID, you can use the search box at the top right corner to search through the data fields.
Editing or deleting Contact Attributes:
If you want to make any changes to the contact attributes, you can click on the Edit button on the top right side and make changes to the respective fields.
If you want to delete the entire contact, you can make use of the Delete button next to the Edit button on the top right side of the page. Once you delete a contact, all information associated with the particular contact will be deleted permanently.
You can click on either one of the 'View all' as shown in the above screenshot to open the complete timeline of that particular contact.
The above timeline gives you the history of all the activities of the selected contact. The bottom-most activity will the oldest one and the top-most will the latest activity.
Besides the activities, you can see the campaign name for which the activity was recorded and you can navigate to the campaign by clicking on the campaign name.
Filtering options in Contact Timeline:
1) If you want to filter the contact’s activities for a specific period of time, you can use the 'Data Range' filtering option given on the right side of the dashboard. You can set the From and To date and the activities falling under that time period will be displayed.
2) You can also filter the timeline based on the type of activity. Suppose if you have selected Subscription from the checkbox, the activities of the contact related to subscription alone will be displayed.
